In Amsterdam, while on break from recording, Boyd, Evert and I used to walk down to this bar for some drinks and pinball. One day on the way back to the studio Boyd realized he'd forgotten his hat. So we turned around to walk back to the bar and Boyd just started singing the chorus: "I just want my hat back baby, and I'll be on my way." By the time we got back to the studio the three of us had come up with the framework for the verses. This song rings true because it's just SO Boyd Small.

Hat Back Blues
I'm not sure what happened with you and me last night
I know that it must of been some kind of a fight
I want my hat back baby
Give me my hat back babe
I want my hat back baby and I'll be on my way
I know that I been drinking for two or three days
Last night just seems like something of a haze
I want my hat back baby
Give me my hat back babe
I just want my hat back baby and I'll be on my way
You take the children, I'll keep the dog
I don't care about the house, I don't care about the car
I just want my hat back baby
I want my hat back baby
Give me my hat back baby and I'll be on my way
I won't hang around, I won't even call
If you give me my hat back baby you won't see me at all
Give me my hat back baby
I just want my hat back baby
Give me my hat back baby and I'll be on my way
I just want my hat back
give me my hat back
I just want my hat back baby
I only want my hat back
Give me my hat back baby and I'll be on my way
